The Dragons put on a stellar performance with both bat and ball to secure their maiden TNPL title against a formidable Kings team.
The match began with the Dragons’ bowlers coming out strong to limit the Kings to a modest total of 129 for 7. Sandeep Warrier, Varun Chakravarthy, and P Vignesh each picked up two crucial wickets to keep the Kings in check. The Dragons’ skipper, R Ashwin, also played a significant role with the ball, conceding just 13 runs in his four overs.
Chasing 130 for victory, the Dragons got off to a shaky start, losing both openers early on. It was then that Ashwin and B Indrajith steadied the ship with a composed partnership. Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan of the Kings was awarded the series honours for his exceptional all-round display, finishing as the second-highest wicket-taker and boasting an impressive strike rate with the bat.
